My Favorite Clips From Day Versus Night

I have the perfect idea of what I'm putting into my book, but half the time it doesn't come out the way I wanted it to.
Well, sometimes it goes BETTER than what I wanted it to. These are some of the clips that actually came out half-decent that I am rather fond of.

"It was already getting dim out when we reached a dark looking old Victorian home. It was white, and dirty. The paint on the edges of the roof was peeling, and chips of the roof were flapping off the house. The windows were foggy and their wooden frames seemed immovably old. The screen door in front was torn in many places, and the heavy from door behind it had bars. Aisha didn’t like the look of this place at all.
“Just how I left it,” she said worriedly.
I knew somewhere in her heart she wanted to go home.
Gingerly, she climbed the front steps and rung the bell. It sounded like a sort of buzzer, rather than a bell.
Nothing happened.
Aisha bit her cheeks, waited, and rung again.
The house stayed dark and quiet.
All of a sudden, a single hall light burst on, coming out distorted through the foggy glass.
A very puffy-eyed scraggly red-haired woman opened the door, which screeched in defiance to being moved and complaint to its WD-40 deficiency.
“AISHA!” sobbed the woman, her face filled with a light that made me feel incredibly odd, almost sad.
“I thought I lost everything, your father and now you…but you’re not gone…you’re here…Aisha…” she cried all over Aisha while smothering her with a hug.
Aisha didn’t say anything but graciously accepted the strangling embrace.
It was a fantastic moment."

and another:

"To pass the walking time away, we reminisced about our old friends.
“I remember when Will ran away, and we all had to find him. When we did, we all thought that it was pretty fun and spent forever playing this intense game of hide-and-seek,” chuckled Tom. Gary nodded. “I remember that. Once where we had just started the band, the four of us had a crappy gig at a bar somewhere in the city. After the show we took turns taking the equipment out to the truck. Man, we parked in the side alley and some creepo decided to go after Jezebel. It was funny when she totally went after him,” said Gary with a smile. He spent a while to remember it for himself in his mind. “Once Callie and I were playing this horrible prank on some of the jocks on the football team in her college” started Michael, suppressing a laugh. “Those guys totally retaliated. The bunches of us had a big prank war. Callie hid in their fridge with her favorite mask on. Even I get creeped out at it; it’s a wooden mask that has angry slit eyes and a bird beak. Anyways, they opened the fridge and she said in a really weird voice, ‘Have a drink,’ and exploded a liter of soda all over their faces.” All of us laughed at that one. Callie, I remember, loved masks. She had a whole ton, most of them were very unique and particularly creepy."

an interesting bowling scene...

Callie raised an eyebrow when I didn’t go right away. I knew she wanted to go soon; her turn was after mine. I bit my lip, and seeing that the manager was busy hollering into Tom’s face, I grabbed the heaviest ball I could see and decided to have fun with it. The party of little kids was very interested, hooting and cheering at this wonderful chaos. Gee, I never thought two years ago that I would be doing this today. I was such a good girl back then, my mind told me. Grinning evilly, I made a lurch towards the lane.
The ball would’ve been a gutter ball, as I was terrible at bowling, but I threw it so hard it was bouncing very loudly from each side of the bumper. When it finally reached the pins, it was smack dab in the middle. I struck out, but the ball hit the back and came rolling towards me again. I grabbed it and threw it again, and this time it flew over the bumper and into the next lane. I scored two strikes on the same turn. My friends whooped, and the manager was stuttering unintelligibly in his anger.
I couldn’t help but smirk. Finally, he screamed “OUT!” to us. Callie strutted nastily over to him and, staring him in the eye quite uncomfortably, said “No.” All of a sudden, the manager turned around, blank faced, and returned stiffly to his office. I was astounded. Callie gave a smug look as she grabbed a ball and shot it like a bullet down the lane. I watched each and every one of them go once, and then the place started on fire."

One of my top favorites...

"The man in the store’s eyes bulged in suspicion. The hulky boy growled and pointed at the front of his car. “And do I have to pay for that scratch? This is a brand new car!” Gary shook his head. “If I had money to waste on a car, I’d spend it on mine.” Gary kicked the end of his rusty convertible lightly. Despite the wear on it, I still always thought it was beautiful. The witchy looking teen girl in the new convertible yelled, “Get him!” She had a quiet voice, and her yell seemed muffled. The teen boy snorted and charged like a stupid ox at Gary, who stood quite calmly next to his car. Gary took the hit like a stone. The hulky teen flew back from him, dumbfounded. “What the hell are you?” he shouted. The man in the store screeched out of his crooked chair behind the register and came waddling out, swearing. “What is going on out here, boys?” he managed to squelch out. Gary just looked at him while the other boy charged at him again, just to be thrown back like before. “He scratched my car!” screamed the teen, rubbing his back where he had landed. “This guy’s crazy! He ran an impossible race and is like…like… a rock!” The piggy man grunted at looked at the teen boy deliriously. Groaning in frustration, the boy grabbed the man’s dirty hand and pulled him to his car. “There!” he yelled and pointed to a miniscule dent in the shiny front of his car. “Ohohoho,” squealed the man, “The court’s really going to charge him for that!” Relieved of his previous suspicious status, the gross man limped back to the store.
In disbelief, the teen pushed Gary. Gary didn’t budge, but the teen stumbled backwards. The hulky boy was still mad, but he walked slowly to Gary and punched him lightly. “Ow! How do you do that?” he asked, rubbing his knuckles on his hand. Gary grinned and thought for a moment. He disappeared with a quick run, and reappeared behind the boy. “The only way to find out is a little vacation to the top of Idaho, kid,” said Gary."

and letters...I love this part.

"Demetra's furious handwriting revealed a hilarious story of her previous baseball game. She hit a home run, and the ball went so far that it smashed through someone’s windshield in a gas station parking lot four miles away.
Audrey sent one to me personally, saying how dull it was and how Tom was crabby and  the band wasn't practicing and how the world was ending. That sort of thing. Audrey's three page novel was another kind of dramatic. She also told me that Tom was starting to smoke. I always thought he was very jolly most of the time, so that surprised me. She was worried about the full moon but she told me that she’ll tell me more details back at home. She said that she spotted The Crow on TV and recorded it, and she wasn’t going to watch it without me. There were random stickers and doodles, and the letter smelled like her house. I grinned and pocketed it. I already wanted to go home and eat ice cream with Audrey. Malice had finished reading Courtney's and we all looked at the scribbled mess of Will's letter. “Jeez, I think the crayon died all over the page,” Jezebel said. “Such a shame the skin fell off of his right hand.” “Well, I still think that he could do better than that, with the bones and muscle still there. It's not like he feels it or anything.” muttered Malice. “I think it says, 'I threw...a truck...and the mirror came off. I keep...it and it is kool. Heart Will.'” I read slowly. “Do you think he's education-deprived?” I asked. “Aw, no, but I think he forgot over 200 years of nothing,” said Malice thoughtfully."

And those are my most favorite parts of the book. It's hardly finished, but it's impressive large already and still being added to frequently.
